South African raunchy dancer Zodwa Wabantu has ventured into the cosmetic business and has launched an array of cosmetics. Zodwa who was tired of staying home after a fall out with her Ben 10 recently launched a petroleum jelly and a lipstick, a year after releasing her own range of deodorants. The vivacious Zodwa said she was no longer interested in dominating club scenes but was looking to opening a boutique to sell her cosmetics. She is selling body lotion, mascara, nail polish and other products.
She said it was part of all female celebrities’ dreams to create their own cosmetics empires.
Zodwa said during the ongoing lockdown which is now on Level 3, she has been very busy preparing her moves and securing stocks from Chinese manufactures. “Since I launched my perfume range, I have had this big idea for a beauty collection, these are just some of the ranges in the collection. I have so much that I want to release still, like body lotion, mascara, nail polish and other products. We are going level-by-level like the lockdown,” she said.
Currently, orders for Zodwa’s cosmetics are being carried out online while negotiations are underway with various outlets to take her products. She said that for now, orders can only be placed online while she negotiates with stores to carry her products. Zodwa said with the lockdown, most products have been overpriced resulting most people were not frequenting shops.
To counter the challenge, Zodwa said she has decided to hold the stock for small retailers as huge companies needed ample time to plan, prepare until they allow a product to be delivered into their shops.
Zodwa said she was now searching for opportunities to open her own retail store where she can freely sell her cosmetics. “I could open a store in a mall, rent it out, strictly for the Zodwa Wabantu collection. We are weighing up all our options at the moments,” Zodwa said.
