Watch: Umkhokha actor ‘Sphamandla’ Nay Maps stars in new Mzansi Magic movie

Nay Maps’ career has seen a rapid rise in the past year as the talented actor saw himself going through his best year yet in his career. In 2021 Nay Maps landed more projects in a single year than he has done in the past few years. 2022 things are looking up yet again for the entertainer as nay Maps stars in the new Mzansi Magic movie that debuts today, the 8th of January.

According to Shonisani Masutha, on her Instagram post, the movie called Istina will debut today on Mzansi Magic at 20:30hrs. The film is a Rom-com about a man who is about to get married when he makes his female best friend his best man, a move that tests his fiance’s insecurities. The closeness between the two friends does not sit well with his fiance, resulting in a lot of fights and jealousy that threaten to ruin the pending nuptials.

Nay Maps takes on the role of the main male character, while Shonisani Masutha takes on the role of his fiance. Makgotso M is bringing to life the character of the female best friend. The talented Bokang Phelane directs the movie. The film is produced by Tribe Called Story, a South African production company that produced Housesitter.

Actor ‘Nkosilathi Maphalala’ Nay Maps’ acting career

Born Nkosinathi Maphalala to his father, who was a Pastor but is now late. His fan base grew when he joined the most-watched drama series, Uzalo, taking on the character of Mxolisi Zulu. After his role on Uzalo, South African producers started to notice his talent and had roles in The Queen and Skeem Saam.

In 2021 the actor joked that the year would be the year he worked the most, and it came true. In a single year, Nay Maps worked on a Netflix movie called Little Big Mouth, where he had the lead role starring alongside Amanda Du-Pont. He also had a role on etv’s Imbewu as a vengeful crime lord. He also had a role in the Venda drama series called Muvhango, where he is currently working. Nay Maps was also part of the cast of Umkhokha, a faith-based series that aired its first season on Mzansi Magic.
