The student, going by the name Maluleke, posts a conversation between him and his landlord who is at the brink of throwing him out of his apartment.
Maluleke’s Landlord: Good morning Maluleke. Please note that rent for the month of February is long overdue. A penalty fee of 10% will be levied on the late payment for the inconvenience caused. Amount due is R3 905. Regards Kgomotso.
Maluleke: Morning Mam. Sorry for the late response I wasn’t well, can I call you or something. I’m paying my own school fees that’s why I had problems last month and this month(which won’t happen again). Humbly asking you to take my deposit and not give me back when my lease ends. I’m really facing problems and I’m in the middle of my exams.
Maluleke’s landlord: Good morning Maluleke. Please note that things don’t work like that. I understand your dilemma, unfortunately I cannot help you with it. And please do note that your deposit is still with Charmaine, you will have to request it from her. As it stands now, I am expecting rent for this month from you nothing else. Should you not be able to pay rent for the month of February as expected, I have no choice but to ask you to vacate the unit month end. Its unfortunate but I also have financial commitments I have to meet.
