Masvingo woman goes blind after using Chinese dye, appeals for help
In a shocking turn of events, what seemed to be a beauty procedure turned to be horrible for a Masvingo woman whose eyes can no longer see.
A woman from Bararadzamwa Village in Nyahombe Nyajena under Chief Shindi turned blind after applying Chinese made hair-dye on her head
Pride Masvinge says she applied the hair dye on Christmas day, and her head started swelling as her eyelids closed. Her eyes are also swollen.
Her head is now full of sores and swollen.
The woman talked to the regional publication The Mirror and narrated her story. She said she bought the hair product at Nyahombe Business Centre as usual and it was not the first time she used the dye.
Despite cutting her hair and visiting a local clinic, her situation has not improved and she is now seeking assistance from well-wishers to have her eyes looked at by a specialist.
‘’After using the dye, my head and eyes became swollen and I lost my eyesight. I couldn’t believe
that it was happening to me. I was taken to a nearby clinic where I was given painkillers and was
told to visit the doctor in Masvingo if the condition persists,” she said.
Masvinge said her husband is unemployed and she is therefore appealing for assistance to see a doctor. She is nursing a six-month-old baby.
Well-wishers can contact Masvinge on 0779909269 or Increase Gumbo on 0774396035
