Kwaito star Mshoza, real name Nomasonto Maswanganyi dies

Kwaito star Mshoza, real name Nomasonto Maswanganyi has died.

The musician had Albums: Bhoza, BullDawgz First Lady, Seconds, Alpha, King Don Father and Warrior to her name.

Dubbed the Queen of Kwaito, Mshoza was passionately loved by her fans. Nomasonto Maswangayi, allegedly passed on in a hospital in Joburg this morning.

She worked with a number of record labels including Record Bulldawgz Entertainment and Universal Music (Pty) Ltd.

Mshoza is dead

2020 has been a difficult year for music fans, from not being able to attend shows and losing one of their favourite artists.

The 37-year-old, mother of two’s passing has gripped South African showbiz, and condolence messages are pouring.

Gigi Lamayne posted, “RIP Godmother. The Gigi Gang Loves you. We will tell you all about the strides when we see you again. You opened it all up. You fought and lived a good one. A pioneer. A sister. A fearless woman. Mbokodo #Mshoza.”

“Her hit single, “Kortes” and opening up doors for young women in the Kwaito/ hip hop scene. You could do better with this honestly. #Mshoza“

Refilwe Modiselle posted, “How Mshoza, Sis how, why why why. This is a memory from Hush a show I presented with Zola Hashatsi. The last project we worked on was for Slikouronlife addressing Colourism. Iyoh 2020…. Sweetest soul ever filled with love. Rest in peace sthandwa.”
Khanyi Mbau said she is tired of 2020 after hearing about the sad news.

Mshoza started singing at the age of 10 and was a member of Chiskop, a Kwaito dance group between 1998 and 1999. She signed a professional contract at 15 years.
