Singer Zandile “Zandie” Gumede (née Khumalo) is not bothered by the online backlash she and her sister Kelly Khumalo have been facing since the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial began.
Senzo Meyiwa was a footballer who was dating Kelly Khumalo when he was shot and killed in 2014. Five men are currently on trial for his murder, and both Zandie and Kelly have testified as witnesses.
Some people on social media have accused the Khumalo sisters of being involved in the murder or hiding information, and have called for them to be ‘cancelled’.
Zandie’s response
Zandie Khumalo took to her Instagram account on Thursday to share a screenshot of a post that demanded that she and Kelly be cancelled. She captioned it with a lengthy message, in which she expressed her indifference to the ‘cancel culture’ and her confidence in her musical career.
She said that she did music because she loved it, and that no one could stop her from doing it. She also said that she did not care about the opinions of the ‘social media junkies’ who wanted to cancel her and her sister. She claimed that most of them were actually their fans, and that their attempts to cancel them were futile.
She added that she belonged to God, and that he had the final say in her life. She said that she felt sorry for the haters, because they could not do anything to harm her or her sister.
Zandie’s self-love
Zandie Khumalo also posted a picture of herself on Instagram, in which she praised herself for being a warrior and a star. She said that she was done with shrinking, dimming or suppressing herself to make others comfortable. She said that she fell in love with herself every day, and that she was proud of who she was.
