Well Paid: Durban Actor Mthandeni Mbambo ‘Thulani’s salary gets a nod from Mzansi

Mthandeni Mbambo joined the cast of Durban Gen when the series premiered and has been part of the cast since then. The South African actor has always been acting and dancing for a long time, and it has taken him across the world. Mbambo is an important part of the cast, and the showrunners compensate him generously for his role.

Mthandeni as Thulani in Durban Gen

Thulani is Nurse Phumeza’s husband, happily married as they are two of the kindest people who help their friends and family. He was a police officer held in high regard in his position till he shot someone by mistake in the line of duty. After being left out in the cold, Thulani quickly landed another job at the hospital, where he became head of the security team.

Recently Thulani has been friendly with Dr Dhlomo because their wives were best friends and Dhlomo also wanted help reforming from his abusive nature. However, when they thought they were making progress, Dhlomo hit Sne again, and she had to seek shelter with Thulani and Phumeza. Thulani became the week’s hero after he hit Dhlomo, publicly humiliating him at the hospital.

Before being part of the Durban Gen cast, Mthandeni was on Uzalo, a role that made him a household name. This has been the first prominent role of his career, and it led him to get first consideration for the position of Thulani when Durban Gen started streaming.

Mthandeni Mbambo’s salary stuns Mzansi.

For his role as Thulani Sibiya, Stained Glass pays the actor well, and his salary has gotten fans talking. Mthandeni receives a monthly salary of an estimate of R40 000, and it varies from month to month. Actors’ remunerations depend on the number of scenes they appear in that month and their experience and availability for the role.

Mthandeni has been featured in several movies like Bad Throw and Task Force in 2013. Before that, he was on tour for Sarafina, the musical in Nigeria as a dancer, then also played Bagoza in Shosholoza, a theatre play. The actor is a Jack of all trades and master of them all.
