Amapiano took over South Africa’s music industry, and hip hop took a back seat for a while. Rappers also hopped on the Amapiano wave as well. The likes of Cassper Nyovest, Big Zulu himself, the late Ricky Rick and more released music in Amapiano.
A few weeks ago, Cassper Nyovest said he announced his new hip hop release titled Put Your Hands Up. Mufasa said, “Hip hop ke hip hop,” meaning the genre is the genre, and you cannot entirely run away from it. Big Zulu then released a song titled 150 Bars dissing most SA rappers, and the song shook Mzansi.
Big Zulu’s 150 Bars
In the song, Big Zulu said Cassper’s record label Family Tree is a weed tree, and Mufasa might be high. He also said Mufasa is small to him; therefore, he is no different to Simba. He said Emtee has a Mercedes logo tattooed on his neck, but the garage of the rapper is empty. He emphasized how Emtee and ‘ empty’ sound alike.
Big Zulu reminded everyone he is not afraid of all these rappers. He also wished PRO and Ricky Rick were currently resting in peace. When Mzansi thought the dissing was over, he told Stogie T to stop rapping in English since South Africa is not overseas. He also called out Duncan for refusing a feature with him back then, but now he’s washed up, and the only hit song he has is Tsiki Tsiki. Zulu also said K.O and AKA used to say they were running Jozi, but nobody could see them in Jozi.
K.O responded to the song by releasing a teaser of his verse.
K.O said Zulu crossed Ntaba Yase Dubai and told him to ‘pay that man.’ According to K.O, people only listen to Ntaba Yase Dubai and Ricky Rick when Imali Eningi comes on the speakers. He also pushed the narrative that Big Zulu is a fraud by questioning if Riky’s family ever received royalties. He said he would make a sacrifice by killing a bull (inkabi), and if Big Zulu wants his career to end, he should say so.
At the end of 150 Bars, Big Zulu says he is not fighting with anyone and respects everyone, but when he says it’s on, then it’s on. He also said a song with Nasty C and Patoranking is looming.
