Actress Ditebogo Ledwaba who plays the role of Mbali on Generations The Legacy, has gone all sporty and impressed Mzansi with acute basketball skills. Famous for her Mbali role, Ditebogo, also known as Didigaly, debuted on television as a presenter on YoTV, a kids programme on SABC 1.

She first appeared on Generations The Legacy in August 2020 as a supporting act and earned her stripes in the leading role. She scooped the Outstanding Young Performer award at the Royal Soapie Awards in September 2021, marking a grand entrance on the acting scene.

The Mbali character is an orphan raised at MaSonto children’s home and adopted by the Diale family. Mbali is the legal child of Lucy Diale and Mrekza Makhafola; she was adopted after Lucy realized that she had reached menopause and couldn’t bear children anymore.

Over the Generations The Legacy storyline, Mbali suffered abuse at the hands of her biological aunt, who married her to a wealthy older man in widespread early child marriage and was later rescued by her guardians. She experienced teenage problems from peer pressure and friends’ betrayal and survived it all, resembling a South African black girl.

Mbali is a bubbly personality and consistently seeks to uplift others on and off screens. She is highly credited for her role in supporting and uplifting young and support characters on Generations The Legacy.

Young actor Elvis Nkosi who currently plays the role of Mo on the SABC 1 soapie, revealed that Ditebogo helped him settle when he first joined the Generations cast.

“She is a vibe and a blessing for young talent; when you join the Generations cast as a young talent, she will be the first to walk you around, helping you feel at home.”

Ditebogo proved to be forced to reckon with on and off the screens; she hit the basketball court and left Mzansi, asking if she could audition for the national junior basketball team. She continuously hit three-pointers and a few slam dunks to show off her skills with the basketball.
