The celebrated actor finally opens up. The River actor ’Zweli’ Hlomla Dandala opens up on the dramatic exit. With an illustrious career, Hlomla Dandala dumped The River in the eleventh hour and Mzansi was more than puzzled. In the drama series, he starred as Zweli Dikana. It came as a shocker, given that he was one of the lead actors who quickly became the drama series’ most loved on-screen character. He has been dupped as the goddess of small screens, and his unmatched acting flair has seen him winning big.

His exit from the drama series saw a mass exodus of the other three lead actors. It seems as if The River has some woes yet to spilt in public. Many have it that it might contract woes. Dandala has opened up about his exit from The River for the first time after his dramatic exit. Speaking to Newzroom Afrika said that it was time. In the mix of things, he revealed that what tends to happen with any career is that if you stay for too long, it becomes difficult to “pivot away from it.”

“If you have established yourself as a leading man and you play something that establishes you as being quite weaker and you don’t get out of it fast enough, it gets harder and harder over time.”

On the other hand, Mzansi has lashed out at the showrunner’s ever-changing storylines and plots that led to the drama series’ fall.

“And part of that is I don’t want to be locked in a situation that I don’t want to be in. It starts to damage your future as an actor.”

However, of interest is the fact that he bowed out of the drama series in good books with the showrunners. Rumour mill has it that the actor and producers were generous enough to understand his predicament. Hlomla Dandala adds that this is the “natural evolution of any show.”

“They were stuck between a rock and a hard place in that the structure of the show requires that it requires that one is duped and the other is duping.”
