Sjava to leave Ambitiouz: South African singer, rapper and actor Sjava is planning to leave Ambitiouz records as he feels unhappy about the money issues. Sjava is looking at way to release himself from the Ambitiouz Entertainment contract so he can become independent.
A Sjava exit is likely according to Sjava’s friend, the artist is extremely unhappy and has been looking at ways to gracefully leave the Ambitiouz.
Sjava, born Jabulani Hadebe, is getting inspiration from former Ambitiouz records artists such as Amanda Black, Fifi Cooper, A-Reece and Emtee who left the label after being ‘exploited’.
Ambitiouz Records owner and boss Kgosi Mahumapelo dismissed Sjava exit rumours yesterday and reiterated that the contract with Sjava is still valid and they look forward to working with him for many years. They also dismissed allegations of having not remitted monies from the Black Panther project that Sjava participated in 2018.
Sjava, together with Babes Wodumo, Saudi and Yugen Blakrok, featured on the soundtrack for American superhero film Black Panther, joining international stars Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Travis Scott, The Weeknd and 2 Chainz.
“An artist or label cannot opt to renew a contract that is still active and will be for a few years to come. All three contracts are active and Ambitiouz have not requested the artist to renew any. Ambitiouz have not received any form of payment from the Black Panther project to date and efforts have been made to claim revenues from the project, including hiring international royalty specialists to assist in this regards,” Mahumapelo said.
Sjava is also accused of making independent performances in violation of his contract with Ambitiouz.
“There are agreements in place and Sjava is required to comply with the agreement, including his management agreement,” Mahumapelo responded to the accusations that Sjava wants to leave Ambitiouz over money issues
Ambitiouz Records was founded by Mahumapelo in 2015 and signed the likes of A-Reece, Sjava and Emtee.
Sjava was born in Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal and he started acting in 2005, and was involved in most notably uGugu no Andile drama.
Sjava has done a number of projects with the label including Isina Muva in 2016, second full-length offering Umqhele in 2018, as well as his EP Umphako.
He was once accused of rape by ex girlfriend Lady Zamar, allegations that he vehemently denied.
Ambitiouz still has Sjava, Cici, LaSauce, Blaq Diamond and Miss Pru under their belt having parted ways with A-Reece, Amands Black, Fifi Cooper and Emtee.
