The family of the late soccer star Senzo Meyiwa recently expressed their thoughts following the testimony of singer Zandie Khumalo at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria last week. According to Sfiso Meyiwa, the brother of the deceased Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, they have been eagerly anticipating the day when the Khumalos would take to the witness stand.

Sfiso, who spoke to Daily Sun, stated that Zandie, the sister of Senzo Meyiwa’s then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo, is becoming entangled in her own web of lies.

“We’ve also noted the inconsistencies in her statements, which makes us happy,” she said.

He continued: “Her version of events keeps changing, depending on the platform she’s addressing.

“In her media interviews, she maintained that she cannot identify the killers, but she suddenly pointed out Senzo’s killer in court. Obviously, one of these versions or both versions are not true. She is gradually proving to be an untrustworthy witness.”

Worries Arise About the Judge in Charge

On Monday, May 15th, singer Zandie Khumalo was accused of using delay tactics during her trial. She had requested a complete media blackout when she took the witness stand, citing fears of being subjected to “ridicule” and scrutiny. In response to this development, the Meyiwa family stated that they had written a letter and asked their advocate, Teffo, to present it to the court. However, he was not given an opportunity to address the court on their behalf.

Fortunately, the decision favoured us. However, we still have serious concerns about the judge presiding over this case. We are scared that a miscarriage of justice might take place,” Sfiso said.
On Thursday, Judge Maumela made a ruling regarding the testimony of state witness number one, Zandie Khumalo. The judge ruled that while Zandie’s testimony could be recorded using audio equipment, the media would not be permitted to record her testimony using visual means.
