She doesn’t come cheap on our small screens. After her fallout with Fergusons Films, she went awol only to show up years later. South African seasoned actress and the most paid actress in Mzansi Moshidi Motshegwa made all sorts of headlines when she joined Isono after her disastrous exit from The River.

Taking it to the media after her exit from The River, she revealed that she was too expensive and the showrunners could not afford her.

However, on the other hand, the showrunners were signing a different hymnal from the actress’s. It was revealed that she was fired from the drama series after she had a fallout with the showrunners.

Moshidi Motshegwa indicated that she was scared to lose gigs after The River exit. The Ferguson Films have been blasted for influencing other showrunners to blackmail casts that would have dumped them in recent years. After leaving the Fergusons in the eleventh hour, several actors such as Rami Chiume, Louw, and Sello Maake acting careers have taken a knock.

We can all agree Motshegwa unmatched talent was enough to secure her gigs despite the Fergusons influence. She joined Isono as she marked her return to small screens.

During her exit on small screens, Moshidi won big when she starred in three international series’ in the same year. According to Mphela, she starred in Letter to the King, Vagrant Queen and Good Omens, shot in 2019 and aired last year on the BBC.

However, we can all agree this was a big-money move because Moshidi costs a fortune to lure. The multi-award-winning actress career spans for decades and has starred on several hit soapies such as The River. She was rumoured to join Generations: The Legacy, but nothing materialised, but she opted for Isono.

Her gig on Isono saw her bolstering the already existing casts of veteran actors. Isono has some of Mzansi big names, such as veteran actress, Nthati Moshesh who plays the role of Mother Mary.  Rami Cheune also stars on Isono and plays the role Jumina. The drama series boasts actress  Natasha Thahane who stars as Millicent.

In the mix of things, her monthly takings from Isono have been leaked. No doubt she is expensive. Salaries of actors vary with experience, craft competence and times on scenes and judging from that; she gets a hefty paycheque. It has been established that Moshidi is paid between R120000 to R135000 for her services. She joins a host of seasoned actors and actresses paid hefty amounts for their services, like Connie Ferguson, Sindi Dlathu, Rapulana and Vusi Kunene.
