This is where I was in 1992. I was a hustler as I’m still a hustler.  asked no one to help me.  slept in Park Station, JHB, for 5 days because I had no where to sleep, but nobody knew. I hustled and hustled, doing sessions for well known artists until I got myself these wheels.  never cared about who said whatever about anything I did as long as I was not hurting anyone. I smiled , listened, gave , assisted while I had nothing , to everyone who greatly needed my small, little help in whatever way or form. Some abused my kindness,  never got shaken. My wheels had a message for all those who were out to drive me off the musical highway.. Voetsek! was the message on top of my back registration plate… PTM831T , which ( Mshishi) , Bhuti Themba Fassie @thembafassie would affectionately call it Phuthuma 831. I know where I’m from, I know where I am. I know where I will end up to. This life is mine and I’m asking nobody to help me live it. I choose positive and good people who will advise and assist in my rising up every time I fall. Thank you SA for all you’ve done for me.

Ringo Madlingozi Biography, Career, Love Life, Children, Songs

Career

Ringo rose to fame when he and his band Peto won the Shell Road to Fame contest in 1986. He later formed a group called Gecko Moon with Alan Cameron, a fellow Peto member. They made the hit song Green Green’.

He was actually discovered after a chance meeting with the producer of Island Records, Chris Blackwell. “Blackwell chided me for not sticking to what I know best – my people, my language and my culture,” Ringo said. “It was as if a bright light had been turned on in my mind and this led directly to the recording of my debut album, Vukani.” The album cemented his sound within the African Pop genre.

After hustling and singing backing vocals for artist, I had an opportunity of co-leading a multi racial group that was working under G-Management, which was being run by @chrisghelakis . I got my life schooling of singing while working with those cats as WALK THIS WAY, a rock , R & B, Acid Jazz and pop outfit , which was catering for almost White audiences in clubs around JHB, PTA, Sasolburg, Vereeniging and its sorroundings. Some of the clubs were down right racist while others were accommodating the black faces that were performing on their stages. It was a heavy hustle, doing 36 songs a nite, 6 nites a week with semi breaks on Mondays that were used as listening sessions for new songs that we were needed to know for the coming gigs. It was hell but I used it as a learning experience of how to sing non stop and not losing a voice. The less I say about money, the better. Yes 1992/93 was grueling experience. Happy New Year to you all!
