It is with no doubt that this year has been an emotional one for Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, professionally known as AKA. Earlier this year, the rapper lost his fiance to suicide after she jumped off the balcony of their hotel room. AKA opens up about being on depression medication after being clinically diagnosed with the condition several months ago.
In a chain of Instagram stories, the rapper has told his fans that he was clinically diagnosed with depression some months ago. He went on to say that he was given medication to treat his condition, but he got off the meds because they made him feel nothing. He claims that his job is to handle, so the medication got in the way of that.
AKA went on to tell his followers who may be going through the same predicament to hang in there. He dedicated these posts to people fighting depression every day to give them hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel. With the rough year that this rapper has had, it is no surprise that he may have suffered mental unwellness.
AKA opens up about depression
Earlier this year, AKA’s pregnant fiance jumped off the balcony of their hotel room, killing herself and their unborn baby. After she passed on, videos started surfacing of their interactions. AKA’s violent side came to light as he could be seen breaking down doors and triggering Anele’s mental distress. Brands he represented were quick to cut him off as fans called out for him to be cancelled. After suffering such a tragic loss, the rapper was then involved in a legal battle fighting to clear his name as he was accused of pushing Anele and killing her. He was cleared of all charges later, but social media peeps had already attacked him. His late fiance’s family also fought with him after the passing of their daughter, blaming him for Anele’s demise.

Fans fell in love with the song, but he showed both the happier and sorrowful times in his relationship in his lyrics. This further triggered some people, including Tembe’s father. The rapper has established a strong facade, but he has let the wall crush down by sharing his experience.
