Phila Madlingozi is a South African actor who plays Buntu on The Queen and Nathi on eTv’s Rhythm City. Phila has found himself at the focus of the camera in two Mzansi soapies, clearly the actor is doing something right.

Phila is the legendary Ringo Madlingozi’s son. He made his break on Idols SA as a contestant for the music show. However, Phila couldn’t make it into the top 10. However that wasn’t the end of Phil’s career on screen. Though he might not live behind the mic like his father, the actor has made his own mark in front of the camera. Before making his big break on prime time TV, Phila featured in a number of Productions. The actor played the role of Zithembe on Intersexions. His role as Buntu on The Queen came as a huge break in the actor’s career. Buntu is the brother of Schumacher played by Vuyo Ngcukana and is clearly troublesome. The actor joined the soapie earlier this year. Phila also made his debut on Rhythm City as Nathi, a musician who is a rolling stone His on screen dual performances have certainly caught viewers eyes.

While Phila’s music career may not be as colourful as his acting career, the actor is very much passionate about music. Phila may be the son of legendary musician, Ringo Madlingozi but his musical sound is nothing like his father’s. Phila also has rap music in his sound. The musician has always spoken about how music is his first love. Though he may be the son of a big name, it is clear that Phila Madlingozi has worked very hard on his craft and to build a name for himself.

Whether on screen or behind the mic, one thing is certain- Phila Madlingozi is a ball of talent!
