Sports presenter Robert Marawa has opened up about his near-death experiences and revealed that there have been attempts on his life. Marawa has survived two heart attacks and has been open about his health struggles. In 2008, he suffered a heart attack after a gym session due to a lack of exercise.
In 2013, he collapsed at an event and was also reportedly hospitalized in 2017. In a recent interview with DJ Fresh, Marawa clarified reports that he had experienced three heart attacks. He stated that he was hospitalized for a third time and nearly lost his life due to an attempt on his life.
Marawa did not disclose who was behind the attempt or how it was carried out. Award-winning journalists have reached out for comment and will provide updates as they become available.
“I was not exaggerating. There have been attempts on my life. Even in the times when people were saying I was in hospital because of a heart attack and it was my third heart attack.
“I never had three heart attacks but I ended up in ICU. The two were purely cardiac and health-related. That’s the one that was a direct threat to my life but it was reported as a heart attack.
“Two heart attacks are scary. But I think that particular one made me feel like I was losing my life. I felt the presence of my life just being sucked away when I was there.”
During an interview on Radio 2000, Robert alluded to receiving threats and the negative impact they had on his health.
“People don’t know what it is that I’ve had to do. I’ve been threatened. I was in ICU in June/July last year. My sister was shattered. When she walked in, she saw a corpse. But people don’t know that because I don’t talk about it,” he said.
