Former MDC-T spokesperson Obert Gutu and Senator James Makore have joined Zanu PF. The two are currently in a meeting with President Mnangagwa and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga at the State House in Harare. The meeting is also being attended by Zanu PF national chair Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, Masvingo provincial chairman Ezra Chadzamira and Politburo member Lovemore Matuke.
A long-time trade unionist and colleague of late Morgan Tsvangirai, James Makore started his political career in Zanu-PF before joining opposition politics. Following the untimely demise of Morgan Tsvangirai, he found himself at sea in the Chamisa-led MDC Alliance.
Obert Gutu who is a lawyer by profession left the Chamisa-led opposition after the death of Tsvangirai, to temporarily find new home under Thokozani Khupe. Later, he resigned from that outfit to ply politics outside any formal organizational structure.
Obert Gutu says he decides to rejoin Zanu-PF in order to harmonize his conscience and his politics. He says he found the sterility of aimless opposition too much for him, thus obeying the urge to join hands under Zanu-PF. The two new members reveal that many in the opposition are set to rejoin Zanu-PF both out of disenchantment and because of the desire and urge to serve in unity.
Vice President Constantino Chiwenga also weighed in to welcome the two new members, reminding Zimbabweans of the huge sacrifices that were made before Zimbabwe got independence.

Some Zimbabweans are not pleased with the move which sees them post comments on Twitter like,
“Lord. Until the politics of the stomach are truly and finally discredited and abandoned, will always be turmoil in a Zimbabwe! Turmoil in the East, turmoil in the West, turmoil in the North and turmoil in the South yoh. But we remain confident of victory, of good over evil.”
“The leaders with the masses at heart are chosen by the people on the ground. Celebrating mr Gutu back home is as good as making noise claiming to recycle some dumped residues. Hoarding of rejects doesn’t make the Zanu Pf shine.”
“International Community knows the Truth, this won’t Work, respect the Laws of our Nation, parading Bootlickers work for Bootlickers not for Economy and job creation, doesn’t provide Drugs in our Hospitals#Demloot.”
