Nomzamo Mbatha shed more light on her role on Coming 2 America at the day 1 of the Global Press Day. As the wait awaits Coming 2 America, Mzanis is at the forefront of the excitement with Nomzamo Mbatha playing a lead role in the movie.
The actress was dressed to the nines for the Global Press Day for the movie. She shed more light on her role in the movie and her journey in America.
Nomzamo Mbatha talks Coming 2 America
Nomzamo Mbatha will play Mirembe, a hairdresser who gets married to the prince. Speaking to the Daily Sun, Nomzamo said,
“My move to America was not any easy one because going to auditions and trying to make this dream come together was also hard. It has always been a part of the plan to go pursue a career overseas but I first had to establish my name and my career in South Africa before I could do that.
Which is why I put in a lot of effort in my work and learnt as much as possible to become a strong performer. From my lips to God’s ears, I hope to star in more international films. She’s a traditional Zamundan woman who is very unconventional because she doesn’t do what normal Zamundan women are expected to do as most of them are maids in the palace but she’s a barber.”
Nomzamo hasn’t only stolen Mzansi’s heart but internationally she has become a sensation. Her peoduction team has spoken nothing but good of her.
“She was this symphony when she walked onto set. She brought this energy of love, and, being one of the few people in the movie who lives in Africa, she provided this authenticity,” says Coming 2 America director Craig Brewer.
Nomzamo is not the only South African to have a share in Coming 2 America. Local designer, Laduma Ngxokolo of MaXhosa has some costumes that will feature in the movie.
“Got a call from the QUEEN of costume design @therealruthecarter in 2019 to co-work with her on a few @MAXHOSA pieces for the Coming 2 America film, the rest was history and history was made. My team and I enjoyed every minute of working on this project, we where especially delighted to see our pieces on our very own @nomzamo_m and several acts we grew up dreaming of meeting, thanks you Ruth” he said.
