The tracklist for ‘Respect The Drumboss 2021’ is yet to be released and he hasn’t disclosed the features. Heavy K is hesitant to announce the release date as he fears the album might be affected by the Covid-19 regulations. The album is a continuation of his addictive drum tunes after he dropped the EP ‘KHUSTA‘ last year in 2020. KHUSTA had songs such as Thatha and the hit track ‘Uyeke, which sold platinum in early January. Before KHUSTA the EP, Siqula released two EPs, ‘First injection in 2014 and ‘Dancing in the sun’ in 2016.
It has been an incredible 10 year journey for Heavy K. His major breakthrough came after producing Professor’s 2010 hit, ‘Lento’. He influenced the South African house music genre over the last years. With the house music genre evolving and having breakout genres such as gqom, barcadi and amapiano, his sound has remained unique. Mkhululi’s percussion still stands outs in all his tracks.
Heavy K has collaborated with a lot of top South African artists especially Mpumi and Nokwazi whom he groomed. He has also worked with Bucie , Sdudla noMa1000, Cassper Nyovest, Professor and Thulasizwe. Most importantly, Heavy K featured his baby mama and ex-wife, Ntombi on ‘Ndibambe’ and ‘Let them talk’. Maybe this year he will rope in a new breed of artists who were ushered in by Amapiano. The new breed of artists include Kamo Mpela, Bontle Smith, Costa Rich, Amos, Jobe London, Focalistic and Bizizi. Heavy K may also have worked with artists he has never worked with. These include Makhadzi, Nomcebo, Zanda Zakuza, Simmy, Kelly Khumalo and Busiswa. All we cannot right now is to speculate, but The Drumboss is the only one who knows what he has been cooking.
