Lesego Marakalla “Rachel Kunutu” leaves Skeem Saam
Lesego Marakalla leaves Skeem Saam after 8 years on the hit SABC1 youth soapie playing Rachel Kunutu, the actress has resigned citing an intention to take a break from acting and return to school full time.
Her final appearance will be 19 June 2020.
“To all my fans, I really appreciate the love and support you have given me since day one” — added the actress regarding her departure from the Rachel role.
According to a statement realized by Skeem Saam Lesego Marakalla is leaving the set so that she can concentrate on her studies full time.
In a statement, Lesego says she is not sure if she will return to acting.
Lesego revealed that she isn’t sure if she will ever return to acting. She expressed her sadness at leaving the soapie and her gratitude for all the friendships and memories made.
“I will miss my Skeem Saam family dearly. I have been with the show for 8 years and I have created some good friendships and memories!” Lesego said.

The production expressed how much they will miss the actress and wished her the best of luck in her future endeavors.
“In her role as ‘Rachel Kunutu Maphuthma’, Marakalla has been one of the show’s leading young ladies, adding to the series’ sustained success over the seasons,” read the statement.
Her final episode on Skeem Saam is on Friday 19 June 2020.
