Gee Six Five music career

Gee Six Five released her first Amapiano hit single Obani Lababantu on Thursday, topping the South African chats in 24 hours. Despite being ridiculed on social media due to her voice and her age, Olpha Selepe has the last laugh after a successful second debut. Gee Six Five made a false start to her music career 20 years ago when she released a gospel album which failed to kick start her music career.

She resigned as a teacher from uMgungundlovu TVET College, Northdale branch where she was heading the school in March 2020 and started to work on her music career in July 2020.

I started composing the song in July, writing and singing until the lyrics were in my head. The plan was to do ingwijikhwebu or something that will take the country by storm. The message in all this is that it is never too late to become what you want to be. Don’t be afraid to explore your own talents because of the naysayers. I just wanted to do what was never done before,” she said.

Gee Six Five revealed that her coming album is a once off project, she will never venture into music again.

” I named myself Gee Six Five because i will only perform when iam 65 years old, its a once off project which ends this year. I will not record other songs beyond this year,” she said.
