This actor stole our hearts back in the day when he played the handsome Phenyo Dlomo on Generations with a smile that melted many ladies’ hearts. The actor has had a rough couple of years, but it seems that he is back and still on top of his game. Former Generations actor ‘Phenyo Dlomo’ Melusi Yeni joins Durben Gen as Thabo Dlamini’s friend.
Melusi was making it big in the entertainment industry and on top of his grind for several years. His role as the formidable businessman Phenyo Dlomo in Generations quickly made him an instant household name. The actor was beloved on South Africa’s TV screens because of his looks, million-dollar smile, and craft. In 2013 however, the actor was fired from the SABC show, and he entered into an involuntary sabbatical.
After Generations dropped him, Melusi had a streak of bad luck. Rumour had it that the soapie fired him because he constantly forgot his lines during filming. However, he was part of the Generations mass exodus, which saw 15 actors leaving the soapie after they striked for better salaries. The following year, Muvhango ditched him too. In those days, he was in court fighting with his baby mama for defaulting on his child support payments.
Meet Andile: Melusi Yeni joins Durban Gen.
For years Melusi could not land a job in the industry. His health was not well, and that saw him relocating back home to KwaMashu in Durban. He said that his family welcomed him well, and they still believed in him, giving him hope. After years of not landing jobs, he was called back by Imbewu-The seed as Manqoba Dlamini. TV lovers were reintroduced to the actor, and he was bigger and better at his craft.
Recently Durban Gen has opened its doors to the seasoned actor and added him to their cast as Andile. He is Dr Thabo’s friend from back in the day when he was in Varsity. He is a bad influence on Thabo as he gets him back on the bottle while trying to quit. Andile seems to be hiding a secret and is sick. These two as a pair bring havoc to their home, and his housemates are not happy.
