DStv set to sponsor Premier Soccer League PSL

MultiChoice owned pay television company DStv is set to secure a deal to sponsor the country’s top fight football the Premier Soccer League PSL.

DStv will replace the Absa bank which announced that it will terminate sponsorship of the PSL at the end of the current 2019/2020 season.

Absa however, revealed that it’s marriage with the Premier Soccer League will continue but this time sponsoring league cups.

The DStv PSL deal will result in MultiChoice controlling nearly everything related to professional football in South Africa. MultiChoice via its broadcasting company SuperSport International, holds the rights to broadcast PSL matches.

Savannanews has learned that a deal is almost finalized between the football governing body PSL and DStv which will allow the pay television to sponsor the upcoming 2020-21 season.
