Done Deals: Mamelodi Sundowns on a signing spree

Despite lifting a treble in the just-ended campaign, Mamelodi Sundown has also landed about a dozen of talented players to bolster their squad for the upcoming 2020-21 season.

The major signings alluded to the sentiments of Sundown’s owner who looks to maintain the club’s ascendency over their PSL rivals.

Mamelodi Sundowns signings for this upcoming 2020-21 season.

Mamelodi Sundowns are not planning to stop after lifting three major silverware, the Nedbank Cup, the Telkom Knockout, and returning the Absa Premiership title, having also dominated the transfer market window with big signings this year in preparation for another CAF Champions League Campaign.

Masandawana President Patrice Mostepe’s intentions were clear when he announced the extension of Pisto Masimane’s contract with four years in May.

The club has already secured enough fresh talent for the upcoming season.

A list of new Mamelodi Sundowns Done Deals.

Peter Shalulile: The 16 goal-scoring striker Peter expressed his excitement about his big move from Highlands Park to Masandawana after the Highlands Park franchise was sold to Tim Sukazi.

George Maluleka: Having being banned from the transfer market for two windows the signing of Maluleka from Kaizer Chiefs sparked an uproar after the announcing in January that ‘Mido’ had signed a pre-contract with Sundowns. He was sidelined from the team only to be released by Chiefs during the lockdown.

Lesedii Kapinga: Kapinga signed a pre-contract with Sundown’s in January but had to stay at Black Leopards to help them to fight off relegation. He was allowed to leave Black Leopards before the resumption of the 2019-20 season as Lidoda Duvha tried to archive more focus in their bid to survive.

Aubrey Modiba:  (Transfer pending) Supersport United boss Stan Matthews indicated that Modiba moves to Sundowns it’s almost a done deal. The Nedbank KeYona product is set to join Pitso Mosimane’s squad provided all parties agree to the tabled contract.

Luvuyo Phewa: South Africa under 20 starlet made headlines when it was rumored that the Soweto Giants Orlando Pirates had enquired for his services. However, the turn of events brought a new twist to his transfer saga as he ended up signing a long term contract with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Jody February – February’s signing from Ajax Cape Town was the first sniff we got that Sundowns were starting their transfer business early after news of his signing and loaning to Cape Umoya United emerged at the start of the season.

Grant Margeman – Linked to February’s signing was that of SA under-23 international midfielder Margeman, who was apparently signed at around the same time as the goalkeeper and then both loaned out for the 2019/20 season

Ricardo Goss – The Bidvest Wits goalkeeper was one of several Clever Boys stars who were approached by other clubs once news of the club’s sale was confirmed, and he was also the first one to confirm to this website the move was on.

Haashim Domingo – The exciting Ajax Cape Town youth product was the second Wits star to indicate to us that he would be joining Sundown’s, with Bongani Zungu even coming out to hail the signing of his former Vitoria Guimaraes teammate.

Mothibi Mvala – Highlands Park chairman Brad Kaftel told this website the former SA under-23 star will also be joining Sundowns, which is a surprise considering the sheer volume of midfielders there. A quality signing Sundowns just could not pass up
