South African actress Terry Pheto faced massive backlash when the gossipville caught wind of the allegations that she was under investigation for fraud. The actress used to be vocal and always said what was on her mind, and she did not keep mum while she trended on social media. Terry Pheto has rubbished the rumours that she was involved in any fraud and cleared her name in the wake of the news.

Terry Pheto statement on fraud allegations

Pheto has taken to her Twitter to share a press release statement on the issue circulating that she was involved in fraudulent activities. Terry said that she is dismayed to learn that she is a subject of the Special Investigating Unit. She goes on to deny involvement in the fraud scheme that is being talked about or the people involved.

Pheto has informed the media that she did not see an application for a preservation order being reported. She says she respects the law and will transparently cooperate with the authorities in charge of the investigation. To finish her statement, Terry said that this is a difficult time for her. She thanked people who have supported her throughout the time.

The National Lotteries Commission fraud allegations

Terry Pheto was revealed as one of the names under investigation by the Special Investigating Unit. This was because of a National Lotteries Commission fraud scheme. The actress and eight other people were said to have frauded the commission, a total of R25 million. The team had lawyers, an accountant, a former commissioner and a CEO for a group of hotels.

The Special Investigating Unit, in charge of the investigation, is said to have seized properties belonging to the accused. This included cars, Ocean basket franchises, and properties which they said were purchased by the fraud money.

Fans are happy the actress has put out a statement and told her truth as they looked up to her. However, some still don’t believe her as they question how she funds her lifestyle, given that she is not landing as many roles as she did back in the day.
