Omuhle Gela quits Uzalo
However, despite the storyline being centred on her storyline for the following weeks, Omuhle Gela, the actress who plays Nomaswazi, has quit the show. This came after the showrunners and the actress disagreed with her contract, which was changed suddenly. When Gela agreed to be part of the show, she was given a contract, but when she started working for the production, the terms she was initially given were changed.
The actress thought that was unfair as she had moved from Johannesburg to KwaZulu Natal for the shooting of the show only to be short-changed and blindsided by the production team. She has been part of the show since May and got angry and did not show up for the shooting of scenes. The production of Uzalo is said to have come to a standstill, and the team cancelled the shooting because of her absence. Many actors were told not to go to work because the storyline is centred on Omuhle’s character.
