Several celebrities have ventured into the fashion industry in a bid to speak out their fashion sense. When Chumani struggled to find something to wear that is locally inspired, he decided to create his own brand.

Just like those before her who partnered with clothing lines, Chumani clothing line Tuckshop Wear got the drip.

Ayanda Daweti is popularly known for his stellar performances on etv’s hit soapie Scandal!. Currently on Scandal Chumani is the majority NFH shareholder and it seems his on-screen character is helping him grow big business-wise. There’s more to Chamani that we all know and he is more than an actor he is a designer and cum musician.

The soft-spoken actor has also made a name for himself within the hip-hop circles. His stage name is Tuckshop Bafanaz that somehow goes in line with his clothing label.

In 2018 the Scandals firebrand launched a clothing label Tuckshop wear but it was marred with some mistakes and setbacks. However this time around its a new different vibe. The 31-year-old creative says he is giving it another shot and this time, he is pulling out all the stops.

I have realised that its important to invest time and effort into what I love the most because surely life is too short,” he said.

Ayanda Daweti wear seems to be mostly inspired by the kasi vibe. He did say that his clothing brand is a colourful and fun street style image not only for the youth but those young at heart.

“The brand has a whole different vibe and it gives that sense of youthfulness to one,” he said.

Recently Mzansi was left divided after controversial highly-priced Rich Mnisi modernised version of the Xibelani was priced for a whopping R59,000. However, for Ayanda buying local is good for job creation as for the price tags he did mention that many Africans want low priced African brand lines whilst they are willing to offer hefty amounts to more or similar foreign brands.

“Its high time we should start empowering people and scaling up the sale of our African authenticity to the world”

“I designed something that best portrays my fashion sense and character,”

Apart from acting and designing Ayanda is set to release a five-track ep from his ten-song project.

“The pandemic took a toll on us. It hit us so hard last year and its time we make all our dreams come true,” he says.
