DStv set to sponsor Premier Soccer League PSL
MultiChoice owned pay television company DStv is set to secure a deal to sponsor the country’s top fight football the Premier Soccer League PSL.
DStv will replace the Absa bank which announced that it will terminate sponsorship of the PSL at the end of the current 2019/2020 season.
Absa however, revealed that it’s marriage with the Premier Soccer League will continue but this time sponsoring league cups.
The DStv PSL deal will result in MultiChoice controlling nearly everything related to professional football in South Africa. MultiChoice via its broadcasting company SuperSport International, holds the rights to broadcast PSL matches.
Savannanews has learned that a deal is almost finalized between the football governing body PSL and DStv which will allow the pay television to sponsor the upcoming 2020-21 season.

Bidvest Wits FC has been sold to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila Football Club
Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila Football Club TTM FC has completed the purchase of Bidvest Wits with all its players.
The Thohoyandou based TTM FC announced that it has completed its purchase of Bidvest Wits FC, the deal which includes their PSL status, players and management.
The Limpopo based team revealed that they have lodged a request with the PSL for an official name change, suggesting from next season Bidvest Wits will be known as Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC. The team is expected to call the Thohoyandou Stadium home in the 2020/21 campaign.
Bidvest Wits were due to celebrate their 100th anniversary next season having been founded in 1921, but instead, will cease to exist.
The details of the deal are not yet clear but the TTM FC chairperson Lawrence Mulaudzi is reported to have confirmed the sale which includes all of Wits’ current squad.
