Bukamina became a household name when she landed her role in the Venda drama series, Muvhango. Her role as Gugu was supposed to be on-screen for only three months at first, but because the fans loved her so much, she has held the role for more than four years now and still going strong.
Gugu’s character in Muvhango has always been involved in relationships full of drama. Every time she finds a man she thinks she can settle with, something always comes to ruin it. She has been involved in a love triangle with a father and son, Azwindini and Vhutshilo. Still, things seem to be looking up for her as Azwindini wants to do everything in his power, including defying his family just to marry her.
Bukamina Cebekhulu’s education and acting career before Muvhango
However, Bukamina’s role in Muvhango is not her debut role on-screen. The actress who was born in KwaZulu Natal only moved to Johannesburg in 2008 for school. She studied at AFDA, specializing in live performance and production design. After graduating in 2011, she landed several jobs working behind the scenes with production crews. She was a production assistant on Gospel Classics. After that, she joined the production team of Noot vir Noot as a production coordinator.
Her debut in the acting industry happened when she landed a role in Duma Ndlovu’s drama series Ingozi. She landed a minor feature role on Inkaba while she worked on SABC 1’s Ingozi. She learned of the auditions for the role of Gugu while working on-set with Duma Ndlovu, and she auditioned for the role. Bukamina landed the role, which was supposed to be a small feature role but turned into a recurring role to her utmost excitement.
Besides acting, the entertainer also has her hand in the fashion industry. She is part of the clothing brand called Iqola Harmless Striving. The brand sells a range of clothes from T-shirts, Sweaters, hood jackets and hats, only to mention a few. The actress is also a fitness freak who hardly leaves the gym and a voice that raises awareness for cancer. She is known for participating in charity and awareness marathons.
