Musician Olpha Selepe known as Gee Six Five has died, Gee, Six Five rose to fame in November when she released her first hit song Obani Labanantu. Gee Six Five was a retired teacher who swooped teaching for music.

The sudden passing of Gee Six Five shocked her fans who will remember her as a fearless woman who was placed by God in many people’s lives to prove that its never too late to chase your dreams.

What caused the death of musician Gee Six Five?
Olpha Selepe who rose to fame with her hit song Obani Lababantu passed on in the early hours of Wednesday morning, she succumbed to COVID-19.
Gee Six Five music career
Gee Six Five released her first Amapiano hit single Obani Lababantu on Thursday, topping the South African chats in 24 hours. Despite being ridiculed on social media due to her voice and her age, Olpha Selepe has the last laugh after a successful second debut. Gee Six Five made a false start to her music career 20 years ago when she released a gospel album which failed to kick start her music career.
She resigned as a teacher from uMgungundlovu TVET College, Northdale branch where she was heading the school in March 2020 and started to work on her music career in July 2020.

PASSING AWAY OF MRS NKOSINGIPHILE OLPHA SELEPE. AKA GEESIXFIVE
(Wednesday 9 December) It is with sadness that the Selepe and Mbatha family announce the passing away of their beloved mother. sister, aunt and grandmother Mrs ON Sclepe (nee Mbatha).
South Africans were introduced to her its the musician GeeSixFivc who penned and performed the hit song Obani Lababantu.
A leader throughout her life, the 65-year-old retired teacher had an illustrious career as a primary school principal, later heading up Northdalc TVET college in Pietermaritzburg. She also did a teaching stint abroad in the UK.
In 2018 she completed her master’s degree at the age of 63 and, at the time of her death. was pursuing a doctoral degree.
I ler love for music began while training at a teachers’ college and she went on to bc a highly decorated choir conductor performing in both regional and national competitions. She was also an active member of the Regina Coeli Catholic Church in Madadeni, Newcastle where she lived.
Prior to her hit song Obanl Lababanm that trended on social media and music-buying platforms. she had produced a music album of children’s nursery rhymes in isiZulu.
Mrs Selcpe passed away today in Durban where she had been self-isolating under the watch of the family after receiving a positive diagnosis for COVID19 on Monday.
A sharp dresser. a hard worker and a lover of life. she leaves behind three children, a number of grandchildren. her sister. nieces and nephews.
