Zim records new covid-19 death

On Friday after the Ministry of Health and Child Care reported on the community death of a 63-year-old female from Matebeleland North whose positive
The lady’s COVID19 status was detected during a routine post-mortem. At the time of publishing the cause of death was yet to be established.
Zimbabwe also recorded sixteen (16) new cases- half imported, half local. The total number of confirmed cases is 942. The country also recorded fourteen (14) new recoveries in Bulawayo.
Zimbabwe has done 87 264 tests so far. The total number of active cases is 609. Today Zimbabwe carried out 393 RDT screening tests and 659 PCR diagnostic tests.

Earlier today, Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa said his government is considering reviewing lockdown restrictions.
Addressing Zanu PF Politburo members at the party’s headquarters on Friday, President Mnangagwa announced that the government will review the national lockdown restrictions following a spike in local transmissions.
He said he is reviewing the coronavirus lockdown restrictions following a spike in local transmissions. Critics say Mnangagwa wants a hard lockdown to prevent opposition protests.
On Thursday Zimbabwe recorded three deaths. Two deaths were recorded from Sally Mugabe Central Hospital with Parirenyatwa Hospital recording one death.
These were also detected as part of routine testing of all deaths that occur on admitted patients in hospitals.
Zimbabwe’s health care workers who had been in contact with confirmed cases admitted at hospitals have been isolated.
