Mai Titi faces $500 000 lawsuit
Controversial comedian Mai Titi, real name Felistus Murata, is being sued by her former friend Memory Munyaka.
Munyaka is demanding $500 000 for defamation. She says Mai Titi accused her of publishing falsehoods that she is a prostitute.
This happened between November and April this year after the comedian made several posts on her Facebook page which has over 170,000 followers.
She also says Mai Titi claimed that she was a witch and a cultist baying for her blood. Muyaka says Mai Titi published that she and three others who include Passion Java and Madam Boss, that they were part of the Illuminati, a secret society that is believed to be involved in Satanism and that they wanted to kill her (Mai Titi).
She said the allegations by Mai Titi are false and intended to impute that she is an evil person. In her summons, she states that, “This statement is wrongful and defamatory of the plaintiff who is a Christian.”
It is also alleged that Mai Titi further published that Muyaka had given charms to her husband so that he does not complain or question her when she commits adultery.
Muyaka said broadcasts by Mai Titi stated that she was a prostitute, a witch, a gossiper and someone who blackmails her clients.
Muyaka is the owner of Khloe’s Home Decor (Private) Limited.
In summons now before the High Court, Muyaka complained the accusations tarnished her image as a business person.
Part of the summons filed by Muyaka through her lawyers Mundia and Mudhara Legal Practitioners read:
Plaintiff claim against the defendant is for an amount of $500,000 in respect of damages for defamation and interest. On several dates between November 17, 2019, and April 3, 2020, published several broadcasts on Facebook and WhatsApp platforms about the plaintiff whom she also calls Mai Khloe or Mai Maketeni.
Mai Titi is yet to respond to the lawsuit.
