Zozibini Tunzi, the former Miss South Africa and Miss Universe, has been on a journey of self-discovery and expression through her diverse hairstyles.
Recently, she became the face of Dark and Lovely, a brand that has been at the forefront of Afro hair care for nearly half a century. They’ve just launched a new serum designed to invigorate hair growth.
Tunzi shared that her personal hair journey resonates deeply with the Dark and Lovely Pro Collection. As a child, she dreamed of being the girl pictured on their product boxes. Her hair has been a significant part of her identity, from the short style that accompanied her pageant victories to the various styles she embraces today.
“Redefining myself through different hairstyles has been a beautiful journey,” Tunzi reflects. She emphasizes the importance of black women embracing their natural African hair and finding their unique sense of self within it.
“My hair journey has taught me the importance of nourishment and care,” she says. For those beginning their own hair journey, Tunzi advises focusing on confidence and personal authenticity.
She recalls receiving many opinions on how she should look and act. However, she believes the essence of one’s hair journey is the unity between the individual and their hair. “Find what makes you shine,” she encourages, “because your hair is an extension of who you are.
