Zimbabweans in the city of Bulawayo are exchanging masks for them to be allowed to gain access to the TM Hyper supermarket. The Supermarket is not allowing customers without masks.
Some responses must be contextualised…👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽 received this disconcerting forward…

“TM Hyper are saying No mask No entry The bad part is now people are exchanging masks just to gain access to the shop. Ayas Zimbabwe ma1,” said Busisa Moyo, Chairperson of the Zimbabwe International Trade fair.
Some of the people commented about the directive for Zimbabweans to wear masks and the exchanging of masks:
“This could also happen with kids going to school with masks. Kozonzi na moms vemwana “iyi mask yawakapfeka ndeyani?” Kamwana ndokupindura “ndazo iita swap na Belinda at breaktime”
“that is horrible. Ministry of health must communicate that you can tie a dhuku around your mouth or a scarf. Forget coronavirus imagine all the other diseases they are exposing themselves too”
“It’s the time to mobilise good tailors to make masks (branded) for use in major stores. U pay for the mask as you go in & buy stuff. People dont have masks coz they dnt know where to get them also(affordable n effective). PicknPay, OK, Choppies, Spar shld consider this”
“Give Zimbabweans masks for free”
“This #Masks4All is a great idea but could be a disaster & the logic is flawed because it only applies mask wearing to the CBD, as if the majority of people live there or the disease can only be contracted in that vicinity.. no standards or recommendation on the material used etc”
“I just came from Ascot shopping centre and the people selling masks are charging usd1 or 40 bond. Looking at where we are as a nation, not many can afford this. Borrowed solutions will kill us, we need home grown solutions that are economically friendly to pockets”
The problem is emanating from the fact that the government did not provide citizens with masks. Zimbabweans are struggling to make ends meet and some of them will not afford to buy Zimbabweans masks. They also may not have had time to make their own masks at home.
The problem may also be caused by lack of information as people are not aware the virus can attach itself on the mask and pass to another person.
