Zimbabweans mostly Matabeleland descendants have celebrated the death of former Air Force Chief Marshall Perence Shiri. He was famously called the Black Jesus during the Gukurahundi Matabeleland and Midlands massacres because he could determine who dies or lives.
We have compiles some of the messages and videos of Zimbabweans celebrating Shiri’s death.
Former cabinet minister Jonathan Moyo who claims to have lost his father during the Gukurahundi massacres celebrated the death of Shiri in exile:
It’s tragic that Perence Shiri has departed without facing justice over the Gukurahundi atrocities he committed in Matabeleland & Midlands provinces in the 1980s; nor telling the truth about those atrocities to help heal the nation. May God rest Shiri’s victims in eternal peace!
This is why they called him Black Jesus:
He was also accused of rape and murder:

Here are some of the comments by Zimbabweans celebrating Shiri’s death.
“Perence Shiri “The Black Jesus” didn’t just give orders, he would also demonstrate how he wants someone beaten using logs hitting the victims all over the body.”
“Ntabeni is the area I’m from. Ntabeni was a chief, it is an area with a lot of painful stories.”
“Seemingly these people want to go to the grave with important information: we want to know details of : Gukurahundi, DRC looting, Murambastwina, Marange Diamond looting & Killing, August 2019 killings, Election Rigging, Command Agriculture looting”
“Perence Shiri AKA “Black Jesus” has died. He adopted this name during the Gukurahundi genoicide because he had the power to determine whether you lived or died & he abused that power to rape & massacre. So while Jesus died for OUR sins; Black Jesus died for his OWN sins.”
“Perrence Shiri ‘Bigboy Samson Chikerema’ aka The Butcher of Bhalagwe aka Black Jesus, the Former commander of the 5th Brigade, the man who was in charge of The Gukurahundi Genocide has died”
“Perrence Shiri, the Black Jesus, was responsible for the horrific death of thousands of people in Matebeleland, along with the rape and mutilation of women and girls. Happy that one monster is gone, but others still remain.”
