Open Mic Productions is probarbly Mzansi’s best record label for 2020. It is home to the most celebrated musicians of 2020, Master KG & Nomcebo Zokode. Zanda Zakuza and Bongo Beats are also signed under the stable.

There is a silent battle looming between Zanda Zakuza and Nomcebo Zikode who both recently released their albums. Nomcebo was the first one to drop ‘Xola moya wam‘ in October where as Zanda Zakuza followed a month later with ‘Khaya lam‘. The title tracks for both albums have done exceptionally well so far but Nomcebo’s ‘Xola moya wam’ has already been certified gold in a month. Zanda Zakuza is slowly catching up with ‘khaya lam’.
Although Nomcebo and Zanda are good friends, the battle for supremacy knows no friendship. Master KG unknowingly brewed the competition through his double-platinum selling hit ‘Jerusalema‘ with Nomcebo. Previously, Master KG failed to break into the international scene with the 2018 Mzansi anthem, ‘Skeleton move’ featuring Zanda Zakuza.

Nomcebo Zikode’s album, ‘Xola moya wami’ is a 10 track album where as Zanda Zakuza’s ‘Khaya lam’ is a 12 track album. However, slight similarities in the album titles and title tracks suggest that Zanda Zakuza might be the one challenging Nomcebo. On Zanda Zakuza’s album, ‘Khaya lam’, the top 3 tracks are, Khaya lam, I believe and Life goes on. Likewise, on Nomcebo Zikode’s album, the top 3 tracks are, Xola moya wami, Injabulo and Bayabuza. As we are getting into the festive season, air play, chats and Youtube views will determine who is better, Zanda Zakuza or Nomcebo Zikode.

On youtube, Xola moya wami official video currently has 1million views where as the audio track has 4.6 million views. Combined together that’s a total of 5.6 million views for Xola moya wami. On the other hand, Khaya lam official video has 49 thousand views where as the audio track has 107k views. Combined together that is a total of 156 thousand views for ‘Khaya lam’.
