Back with a bang, presenter Katlego Maboe is trending on social; media after his salary on Expresso was disclosed. The star was suspended from the morning talk show Expresso in 2020 after his ex-wife laid damning GBV allegations against him. His ex-wife Monique Muller claimed he cheated, and she contracted a disease that sprouted from his infidelity. The allegation cost him his career, and his image was tarnished. He was trending for the wrong reasons resulting in him being expelled from most of his television jobs.
Katlego Maboe’s career was going down the drain, and he decided to sue Muller for defamation of character. It took him more than a year to prove his innocence against all the gender-based abuse allegations. However, fortune favours the bold; the court declared him innocent, and his contract with Expresso was renewed. His comeback to Expresso was more like coming home as Mzansi had made a public outcry on social media.
A lot has changed. I didn’t know what this would feel like – but the kitchen still smells good! I don’t even recognise the place anymore. It felt strange. It felt good. It felt welcoming, like home – just a home that you haven’t seen in a long time,
Katlego Maboe’s salary on the morning talk show Expresso revealed
Maboe’s comeback on Expresso has left many wondering how much he is getting paid. It is without a doubt that the showrunners of Expresso are digging deep into their pockets to reward him for his job. Katlego is one of the best presenters in Mzansi, with a cabinet of awards as a testament to his skills.
Besides getting a monthly salary, the superintendent of Expresso makes all of Katlego Maboe’s travel arrangements. They also provide transport to and from the recording venue for the program and any other appearances that he is required to do for the show. If Katlego wishes to drive himself using his car, he is welcome to do so but will keep the receipts for reimbursement.
For his job on Expresso, Katlego Moboe is taking home a salary of R165 000 per month, which is two times the compensation he was getting in 2020. His salary has the potential to increase if he manages to impress Mzansi with his flair.
As of late, the viewership of Expresso is decreasing, and Katlego’s comeback is not making a positive impact on the show. Twitterati PhilMhela reported that Expresso has pulled below 250k viewers’ peak and did not make SABC3 Top 20 in August. Reports also have it that his exclusive interview did not chart.
