Watch, Inside Muvhango’s Riya Hayani 25th anniversary celebrations in Limpopo, Cast meets fans
Imagine that you’re hungry on a typical day, then you decide to buy a meal at McDonald’s drive-thru, and Gabriel Temundzani appears to serve you your meal. That happened to some Muvhango fans this past weekend as the Drama initiated their Limpopo take over. Muvhango is touring the province as part of their Riya Hayani 25th anniversary celebrations.
On Friday, we reported their trip to Limpopo, and now we are about to break down the activities that took place on their journey. Apart from serving burgers and chips to unsuspecting and pleasantly surprised customers, the gang completely parties up a storm and makes sure their fans feel their presence.
The cast did a drive-by everywhere and did it in style, driving in Muvhango branded cars while making a convoy. The takeover at Thavhani mall activated local performers, who brought entertainment by singing and dancing to Vha-Venda cultural music. These guys then went on to hold a gala dinner that was streamed live on SABC live streaming platforms last night between 18h00 to 22h00, where viewers were taken through beautiful speeches by the creators and the actors of the Drama from its inception.

The party went on until the early hours of the morning, and let’s say these guys can get down. Muvhango has become a part of the family to many South Africans since 1997. Fans feel that it was long overdue for them to reach out to their fans in Limpopo as the Soapie is supposed to be set in Limpopo.
The department of Arts and Culture in the province received Muvhango with open arms. Muvhango has ensured that many of its viewers learn more about the Vha-Venda culture and essential tourist attractions around the province.

In 2016 the ex-COO of the SABC, Mr Hlaudi Motsoeneng, was moving the Soapie out of Gauteng to start shooting in Limpopo as part of the 90% local content implementation that SABC was initiating.
Those plans fell through because of the lack of proper resources needed to carry out a big production like Muvhango. The province doesn’t have studios for the equipment rental as well.
Muvhango is shot at Henley studios at the SABC and has been since 1997.
