Mantashe Family Defies Level 3 Regulations, Throws A Wedding Ceremony
South Africans were left divided after ANC bigwig Gwede Mantashe’s family hosted a superspreader event in his hometown of Cala this week in celebration of his son’s wedding.
Despite viral video flooding, the social media Mantashe has since denied violating any regulations.
Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Gwede Mantashe has denied that he broke the Covid-19 level 3 regulations set by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The ANC stalwart admitted that the two-day wedding celebration had been planned for December 28 and 29 before Ramaphosa’s announcement.
He went on and stressed out that it was pointless to call it off yet everything was now in place. The million-dollar wedding took place a day after the national command council on coronavirus introduced the new level measure to curb the spread of the virus.
Mantashe the national chairperson of the ANC is part of the ruling party top brass which called off the annual ANC celebrations which were slated for January. The celebrations beamed for 8 January were cancelled due to the new normal regulations.

“We made the announcement and invited people a long time ago, so these are not rumours. Honestly, we advertised this and invited people to a wedding on December 28 and 29. We cut the numbers. When we sent the invitation, it was 100 on the indoor event and 250 outdoor, OK. That is what we stuck to.”
He said on the first day of the nuptials,
“We were at the reception and at 20.00 hours, new regulations are released, OK. So when new regulations are released at 20.00 hours, people are not in front of the television, they are all over the show.”
Mantashe believes he did not break the law.
