Actress and television presenter Khanyi Mbau shocked her fans with her vocal talents on TikTok. Khanyi is a very skilled presenter and a talented actress. She managed to slay in the other entertainment industry aspects. She tried pursuing a singing career in the past, but it didn’t work out.
We should always consider that she joined television as a child star whenever we speak about her. Her most recent role on screen was playing Zandile on The Wife. Her second role was being herself on Young, Famous & African.
Singing career
In the mid to late 2000s, Khanyi got divorced from her blesser. She dated the musician Tebogo from the trio Kwela Tebza. At the time, the trio bought something unique and fresh to the industry. She then started a rap career.
At some point in her life, she released some music when she was figuring out her life. Her genre of choice was relatively undefined. Her song titles were a bit different. One of her songs was titled Igwinya, meaning ‘ fat cake ‘.
She stopped making music until the dubstep sound took over radio frequencies. Khanyi released a song titled Shake, which was a reggae song. Her song was lovely, but she received ample criticism for it. Many people of the Rastafarian culture said her outfits of choice weren’t suitable for reggae.
TikTok duet
A lady playing a melody with a piano challenged singers to hop on to the challenge. Khanyi hopped on, and her voice sounded so melodic and harmonious. She was singing the classic song Sweet Love by Anita Bakar.
After Khanyi made it, her fans were surprised she could sing this well. Many people encouraged her to make music.
Why isn’t she singing
When some fans asked her why she wasn’t giving singing another go, she said something interesting. Khanyi says she struggles to project her voice to its full potential. Some people in the comment section assumed it was due to her insecurities about not making it in music.
