A few months ago, great news reached veteran actress Connie Chiume that she had won a lifetime Achievement award from the Hollywood African Prestige Awards. Indeed, Connie is not only a legend in Mzansi, but many fans love her worldwide. Her heroics since Apartheid deserve serious recognition in many dramas and films. Her current role on Gomora as Mam Sonto epitomised her quality in the local theatres and many fans love her for it. This is arguably the final contribution that attained her a Lifetime Achievement from SAFTAS. What an excellent recognition that many actors don’t get to have.

It was all joy in Mam Connie’s camp when she won the prestigious lifetime recognition within two months. She celebrated both awards as SAFTAS presented her with the first one. Unfortunately, she was made to wait a little bit before she got to hold her Holywood African Prestige Award. Thank God, the wait is finally over, and Connie is healthy and alive to receive her award in America. Before boarding the plane, she waved goodbyes to Mzansi as she raised the higher flag.

Veteran actress Connie Chiume left for America for her Lifetime Achievement award from HAPA.

Indeed, not many may understand what Connie feels after winning the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hollywood African Prestige award. Not many have won an award of such magnitude in Mzansi, and Connie can’t wait to receive it with her family. Indeed, Connie is loved both on and off set, and she has a solid support system that makes her glow and explosive despite being seventy years old. Connie has shown Mzansi what family is all about. She had to go with his two children, and Mzansi loved such a gesture as they bid farewell at the O.R Tambo international airport.

Connie Chiume’s long and decorated career afforded a Lifetime Achievement award in America.

The legendary actress started her entertainment career after being expelled from nursing after falling pregnant. She then joined Inkom’ Edla Yodwa as Thembi, which was her first notable role in acting. She later featured in many television drama series and films like Black is King, Rythm City and Black Panther. It is with Black Panter that Connie starred in an international film. There she showed a different class that made fans worldwide fall in love with her. Undoubtedly, given the length and quality of her career, Connie Chiume deserved whatever she is getting today.

As she flies to America, we say have a safe journey, Mzansi’s living legend.
