Update: Petronella Kagonye granted bail
Petronella Kagonye has been granted ZWL$30 000 bail by Harare Magistrate Stanford Mambanje after the state did not oppose bail. Petronella is accused of parceling out state land, selling ZB bank land to cooperatives, allocating a farm to a minor and stealing 20 computers donated by Potraz.
She was arrested on Sunday the 7th of February 2021. The other factor that has contributed to her receiving bail is that she is breastfeeding a 7 month old baby. Most people seem not to be surprised that she has received bail the same day whilst others are denied bail in most cases.
The Former Labor, Social Welfare Minister has been charged with four accounts of fraud, one account of theft and one account of criminal abuse of duty as a public officer.

The public is comparing how she has been treated and how she was seen arriving at the court house unlike the likes of Job Sikhala, Fadazayi Mahere and Hopewell Chin’ono who were charged for far lesser offences but had leg irons and hand cuffs.

“After seeing the fraudster & corrupter Petronella Kagonye catwalking in designer fashion without handcuffs nor leg irons at Rotten Row. I just saw the unmistakable DNA & optics of catch & release. She was traversing the same impunity path travelled by Rushwaya & Obadiah Moyo”
“How you are brought to court depends on your behaviour. If you exhibit violent behaviour they can put even neck irons. Knowing Wiwa maybe it was war taking him to the truck.”
