It has come to the attention of the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) that two female students have allegedly been involved in a fight during a lecture on Thursday the 20th of February 2020. The quarrel is said to have started over a Lecturer.
The two two are second year students in Journalism and Media Studies. The fight is reportedly to have started during the Democracy and Human rights lecture.
Other students claimed the two girls were close friends and no one has all the facts on how the fight started, but the word on the street is saying the two were fighting over a male lecturer
According to one of the students the brawl started less severely during the lecture and everyone was assuming it wouldn’t escalate until one of the girls plucked one strand of braid from the scalp. The lecturer stood tirelessly as her lesson was getting interrupted.
The lecturer asked the two girls what they were fighting over and the response she got was they were fighting over a phone. One of the girls is said to have dropped and cracked her friend’s phone by mistake and the owner didn’t like it so she retaliated by attacking the former.
Their companions aren’t convinced as to that being the reason for the fight. The believe the phone incident was just a spark to address a long standing feud over a male lecturer.
Mr Felix Moyo the university’s Communications and Marketing Director has reported that the university is running an investigation into the matter as such practices are not part of the culture and ethics of the institution. Investigations will resume on Monday.
