Mining Tribe Elder in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever- Role played by Connie Chiume
She is famous for her statement speaking to Zuri,
“The Mining Tribe will not challenge today.”
Connie Chiume plays the leader of one of the five tribes which fought against one other after the fall of the Vibranium meteorite in what became Wakanda. When Bashenga, the first Black Panther, ended the conflict, the Mining Tribe agreed to pledge loyalty to the Golden Tribe. The Mining Tribe was solely responsible for all the Vibranium mined, stored and utilized in Wakanda.
The Mine Tribe Elder (Connie Chiume) attended the coronation of T’Challa, their new king in Warrior Falls. As per tradition, The Mine Elder was presented with the opportunity to challenge T’Challa, which she refused.

Billed to be released on November 11, 2022, the producers of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Marvel Studios, released a trailer on their official Twitter account. A video with a No woman No cry Bob Marley song cover, Connie Chiume (The Mine Tribe Elder), featured seating on her throne, a moment that gave South Africans goosebumps. In the trailer, there was a wall portrait in tribute to the late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman who played the role of T’Challa. Chadwick died in August 2020 from colon cancer, and Marvel Studios changed their plans and decided against recasting the T’Challa role.
Connie Chiume’s family feels emotional about the released Black Panther Wakanda Forever trailer video; Nothando Mabuza, Connie’s daughter, revealed that their family couldn’t be more proud.
You can imagine how my family felt this morning. I AM A PROUD DAUGHTER, MAN! @conniechiume, YOU HAVE DONE IT AGAIN, QUEEN!
Mzansi Twitter users suggested that the trailer gave them a chilling reminder of how big their legendary actress Connie Chiume is.
