Winning the Independent Spirit Award for her character as Cora on Under The Railroad
Thuso plays the character of Cora Randall, a young woman who escapes a slave plantation looking for freedom. Vita takes a train and begins a terrifying journey while being chased by a ruthless slave catcher named Arnold Ridgeway. She won The Best Performing Female Award for The Underground Railroad.
The series is a 10-episode odyssey and details all the gruesome tales of an enslaved person in the 1800s. Thuso’s portrayal of Cora is nothing short of amazing. She nailed her character to perfection, which saw her win an award.
Bagging an award at the Gotham Independent Film Awards
Mzansi was beaming with pride when Thuso Mbedu won an award for Outstanding Performance in a new series at the Gotham Independent Film Awards. Thuso bagged the award for her role as Cora in the hit series Under The Railroad. Due to her hard work and determination, she has been given the nod by Forbes magazine and nominated as one of the 30 under 30 creatives.
Thuso received a nod at this year’s International Women of Power Awards.
