Tony Forbes, father of the late rapper AKA, has been grappling with the void left by his son’s untimely demise. It has been seven months since AKA was tragically shot dead outside a restaurant in Durban.

Tony Forbes opens up about his grief

In a recent interview with eNCA, Tony candidly shared his emotional journey following the burial of his son. He expressed that life is gradually moving on and becoming quieter after seven months. However, he personally feels the absence of his son more acutely now. He admitted to having good and bad days and anticipates that this emotional rollercoaster will continue for a while. The loss was not just about losing a child; the circumstances and emotional aftermath are still very much present.

Hope for Justice

Tony revealed that there are days when he hopes to hear news about progress in the investigation into his son’s death. While he yearns for closure, he understands the need to give the process its due course. He remains in touch with investigators who keep him updated on the case’s progress. Despite seeming slow, he acknowledges that it has only been six months since the incident.

Preserving Memories: A Book in the Making

In a previous conversation with TshisaLIVE, Tony disclosed his plans to release a book. He hopes to compile memories of AKA shared by friends and fans into this book. Despite their grief, these stories have provided some solace to Tony and his family. He envisions this book as a source of comfort, akin to “Chicken Soup For The Soul,” that he can turn to during difficult times. He also hopes that one day Kairo, presumably a family member, will read this book.
