The Wife actor Nqoba Zulu ‘Abdul Khoza’ wins big at the DStv Mzansi Viewers Choice Awards
Abdul Khoza is topping the trends after walking away with the Favourite Actor at this year‘s DStv Mzansi Viewers Choice Awards (DMVCA). However, it is a shocker that this is Abdul Khoza’s first DStv award nomination and win. No doubt he truly deserved it.
Adul was contesting against fellow actor and friend Bonko Khoza who was tipped for the same award. Of interest is the fact that they all-star in the same drama series Showmax series The Wife. In the drama series, they were cast as brothers, Abdul stars as Nqoba Zulu, and Bonko stars as Mqhele Zulu.
With an exciting storyline and star-studded cast, The Wife had many actors dominating the awards list. Three of The Wife cast members, including Kwenzokuhle Ngcobo and Zikhona Sodlaka, also headlined the awards.

Ngcobo, who stars as Qhawe in the drama series, was nominated for the Favourite Rising Star award. On the other hand, bubbly actress Zikhona Sodlaka who plays the on-screen character of Mandisa, was shortlisted for Best Female Actor alongside Gomora actress Sannah Mchunu. Abdul gave a special shoutout to The Wife head writer Dudu Busani and the cast and crew to celebrate his big win.
“I am very thankful for this humbling honour of being nominated for the 1st time in my career by @dstv_mvca_official for BEST ACTOR. I honestly am so grateful for this nomination alone as it means my work is being recognized & that l have won a few hearts within my industry & that for me is my BEST AWARD.”
“Thank you so much, Mama Bear @dudubusanidube, for your amazing work that gave birth to these amazing characters we play on-screen. Your talent is extraordinary & out of this world; we love you.”
However, in the mix of things, Abdul sent his fans into a frenzy when he revealed that he would be dumping the drama series after being shot during his war with the Majola brothers.
“It’s been an amazing journey with you all on #TheWifeShowmax. Thank you to the entire cast and crew for embracing me to the fullest. I shall miss you all and wish you a greater journey ahead. You have inspired my career with this amazing show, ngiyabonga mina (thank you) uNqobizitha Zulu lo, sengihembe. Heee heee!!!” he announced.
When he caught wind of the frenzy, he clarified that he was only joking.
