Telenova The Estate has finally paid their cast and crew. A few weeks ago, news of The Estate owing its employees their salaries for almost three months surfaced and sent every one of the shows fans into panic mode.
According to Phil Mphela, the cast had to endure salary postponements for three months since November 2021 by Clive Morris productions.
As we all know, salary issues have had severe impacts on good and loved soapies; just look at Generations. The whole cast was fired in 2014 due to salary disputes that weren’t resolved.
Well, it now looks like everyone could breathe a sigh of relief because on Sunday the 16th January 2022, the entertainment blogger Phil Mphela announced on his Twitter page and updated that the cast and crew got paid on Friday.
This is good news as the show has grown a significant following since its inception. Also, the show has excellent names attached to it, names like S’dumo Mtshal(Isibaya) I, screen veterans like Don Mlangeni Nawa(Isidingo, The River), Clementine Mosimane( Isibaya) and Aubrey Poo(Isidingo, Isibaya), to name but a few.
These actors have an excellent reputation in the industry, and it would be sad to see them leave the show or the show ending due to a salary situation.
The Telenovela is currently airing on two SABC channels, SABC1 and SABC3. It’s started airing on SABC3, and a few months later, the show played from the first episode on SABC1 at 19h30.
This made it easy for viewers who couldn’t catch the past episodes on SABC3 to catch up on SABC1, and viewers appreciated that.
Let’s hope that these salary problems are now a thing of the past and that all will be smooth sailing from now on.
