Sophie Ndaba’s ex-husband Max Lichaba ditches booming business empire to become pastor

Max Lichaba, MD of Kwa Lichaba Lounge, has resigned from his role to pursue his pastoral calling. On Saturday, Lichaba released a statement to news reporters, saying he was leaving his post at the popular chesa nyama to follow his dreams of becoming a pastor. He expressed his gratitude for the support from the company and its many customers.

“After much prayer, thought and contemplation, I have decided to heed the call of God to become a Pastor,” he said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Kwa Lichaba family, and for the support, I have received from colleagues, customers, and the many people who have contributed to the success of our chesa nyama outlets and brands.”

Lichaba went on to say

“I will not have shares in the business and I’m parting ways with the brand. I have left it to the family to run. It remains a family legacy regardless of my involvement as the business employs more than 30 family members. They are trained and capable of running it in my absence,”

From the age of 12, Max says he’s always known he had a calling in ministry, leading to him getting ordained when he was 22.

“I have been avoiding the calling and even started alcohol businesses. The calling has been heavy, and those close to me always knew. It’s now time for its manifestation.

“I have been planning to resign for a while and the Bible says you cannot serve two masters so I had to choose one and follow what God has called me for.”

Max’s experiences as a young man, such as failed marriages, inspired this transition in his life.
